The Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) is the largest public research institution in Spain and one of the most prominent in Europe. With a long-standing track record of scientific excellence, CSIC conducts and promotes multidisciplinary research to advance knowledge and foster innovation across a broad range of scientific domains. Its mission is to support scientific and technological progress and contribute to economic, social, and cultural development. CSIC operates a nationwide network of research centres and infrastructures and maintains a strong international presence through collaborative projects, strategic partnerships, and leadership within the European Research Area (ERA). Its institutes carry out cutting‑edge research in life sciences, material sciences, natural resources, and other key fields, providing scientific expertise and specialized services to academia, industry, and public institutions.

CSIC contributes to MIRRI through the Phagotheque One Health, a specialised collection focused on bacteriophages as antimicrobial agents against undesirable or multidrug‑resistant bacteria across diverse environments—including veterinary and human health, agriculture, and natural ecosystems. The collection hosts a broad diversity of bacteriophages active against multiple bacterial species, together with their corresponding host strains. The Phagotheque offers high-quality biological material plus extensive associated data, such as genomic sequences, host range, phage–host interaction profiles, and phage sensitivity. This information adds significant value for research, therapeutic applications, and the biotechnological exploitation of phage-derived proteins such as endolysins. The platform also supports collaborative projects, assay development, and customised screenings to facilitate the advancement of phage-based solutions within a One Health framework.
